Sunset Boulevard
There are a few filmmakers in cinema history who I find truly inspiring. One among them has truly stood out in my mind recently: Kenneth Anger, patron saint of homosexual ritual magic avant-garde film world. If you aren't familiar, wikipedia has a decent primer. From there, Fantoma has two wonderful DVD sets containing all of Anger's primary work (as well as some unfinished stuff, such as Puce Moment, and Kustom Kar Kommandos)

actally kustom kar kommandos was finished, but i think kenneth didn't feel it was as important of a film as his others. it does sorta lack a bit.
its funny you should post this, cause i just watched the second volume of the collection last night. it's still in my computer. i suggest picking it up. xo.

I'm fairly certain that Anger had planned to make Kustom Kar Kommandos into a full length feature, with something like 5 segments. That's why it's listed as an unfinished feature in books like Moonchild by Jack Hunter (which is an excellent analysis of Anger's work, if you haven't read it)
